we survived hurricane irene! it really wasnt so bad, just alot of strong wind and HOURS of rain! heres a rundown of the weekend:
on friday we went over to stacie and caitlyns for a hurricane party!
we had smores in the backyard…
and then when it got too dark to be outside, we headed inside for funny youtube videos…which lead to the girls trying “planking” for the first time…
somehow matt had never been to stacies house before, so he signed her chalkboard wall…i think he might have fudged a little…
on saturday the storm came rolling in first thing in the morning. we stayed inside and had the laziest day ever, including naps and catching up on our DVR. the worst part of the whole storm was that the dogs were scared of the wind/rain so they wouldnt go potty outside. and then they got stir crazy and started running around the house like wild monkeys! i was so excited when the rain stopped long enough that we could finally take them for a walk!
for dinner i made a roasted vegetable and chicken sausage lasagna…
after dinner we saw the clouds turn the prettiest pink…
sunday we were so happy to wake up to sunshine! the dogs really needed some fresh air so we decided to try out a new stretch of the greenway near our house.
it was right on the neuse river, and so lovely!
the dogs had a great time smelling all the new smells, and we loved the beautiful scenery and all of the cute babies and dogs that were on the path with other families…
we saw a little bit of storm damage on the path…just lots of fallen trees, but it made us very thankful that it wasn’t worse!
that night i made nachos for dinner, and husby was craving cake so i whipped up some “chocolate cake in a mug”. it was pretty tasty for a 5 mintute dessert! (i only microwaved it for 2:30 and that might have even been a little long)
it turned out to be a really nice, relaxing weekend!
