i have been excited to fit lots of holiday cheer into the 2 weekends we have until i leave for christmas!
on friday sarah came over for dinner and a movie, and some shake shack peppermint ice cream! why do i never have pictures of hanging out with sarah!? π¦ however, i do have a picture of the ice cream π
on saturday after a great afro-jazz class we headed downtown to the union square green market/ holiday market. two great markets in one!
we stopped for a little snack…a wafel from the wafels and dinges booth! LOVE these!
after fighting the crowds in the square we headed to chelsea to finish up some christmas shopping…
right down the street from the store we went to was murray’s bagels. we have been meaning to try these bagels since we moved here. we decided to split one for a snack and took a few more home for breakfast this week! these bagels were AWESOME! even not-toasted (they won’t toast your bagel. don’t ask.) it was one of my favorite bagels i have had here…and the bagels sunday morning at home were great, too!
after snacking and shopping we went to one last craft market before heading home…you know…at MARTHA STEWARTS OFFICES! holy cow, i was so excited to see her offices. i mean, she wasn’t there but it was still really cool! they did such a good job putting everything together. of course they did. it’s martha.
i loved the tinsel chandeliers!
they had a “craftwalk”! (like a cake walk but you win crafts, not cakes :))
they also had a station where you could make your own ornaments using martha’s awesome new glitter! it was fun and you got to take home your ornament!
this was my ornament after i got it home…the glitter really does look pretty!
after a very christmas-y day we went home, snuggled up on the couch, and watched old chevy chase movies while eating vietnamese π
sunday we were completely lazy, and stayed in the house until about 5pm. husby watched football while i wrapped Christmas presents, and we ate leftover vietnamese for lunch. that night we headed down to the meatpacking district to eat italian for dinner. i love the meatpacking district, its so hip and SO new york!
a couple of iphone shots around the restaurant…
after dinner we had a very chilly walk to a from the subway. its getting COLD here! peppermint hot chocolate from TJ’s ended the evening π
OK, so you know I am REALLY jealous about this post!!! Ice Cream, Crafts, Glitter AND Peppermint Hot Chocolate?!! Geeeeezzz, I at least hope you thought about me while you were glittering that ornament at MS Crafts π hehehe!!!
Missing you and NYC this time of year, sigh. Cannot wait to be there in Jan (even if it is after Christmas…) π LOVE YOU!
So… I am TOTALLY jealous that you have a market there with handspun yarn… it’s sooo hard to find here. I really need to make a trip! I would LOVE those markets! π Miss you!
