we are in the smokies with matt’s family this week for Thanksgiving! before we headed for the mountains, though we went to his sisters house in birmingham so the boys could drive NASCARS! last year we all got chief 10 laps at the dale jarrett racing school but his day got rained out. so this year all 3 boys did it together, and the girls went along to watch 🙂
we got to talladega early sunday morning and headed out to the track…

the drivers all lined up while the crew did the first lap with the american flag…they played God Bless the USA and brought a tear to jill’s eye 🙂 (it was actually VERY cheesy and VERY sweet 🙂 i mean…rugged and manly. ahem.)
finally the guys got their costumes gear on and they were ready to race!
they wore these funny little snoods under their helmets. matt looked like a little gnome 🙂
race time! they didnt all go out at the same time, chief went first and then mitch and matt went about the same time.

matt was in car #5…which is the kellogg car…which is funny because he works for post cereal. hehe…

the guys did so good! they went around 170MPH, and looked like pros! 🙂 here they are with their certificates of completion…
