on Friday we drove through Cambridge to walk around Harvard before meeting our friends.
loved all the old houses around campus, especially this one that matched it’s surroundings ๐
We stopped at the Farmer’s Market near Harvard Square and it was just adorable (and yummy!)
I picked up some nice, healthy apples for the trip but couldn’t resist some of the Cider Doughnuts, too!
Around lunchtime met up with one of our favorite couples, Michael and Selah, in Boston. they had asked us earlier this year if we wanted to take a little trip up North and of course we said yes! I am so glad we did ๐ This was one of my most favorite days, ever!
We decided to take a tour of Fenway Park, because both of the boys are HUGE baseball fans and neither had been there. Before the tour though we were all hungry for lunch. Well, Michael thought since we weren’t seeing a game at the ballpark we should at least get a hotdog for lunch. Sounds harmless, right? We had no idea what we were in for!
the boys decided to order an All The Way hot dog….in case you can’t read the sign these are the toppings: burger, bacon, chili, cheese.
These hot dogs were ENORMOUS! The bag probably weighed 5 lbs! We were laughing so hard trying to eat these things in the middle of the parking lot! Not to mention we only had about 10 mins before our tour started!
Selah and I actually got “normal” hot dogs that were still huge and ridiculous! But, they certianly lived up to their name! Very Tasty!
Ok, on to the tour… I really loved hearing about the oldest ballpark in America, and hearing about all their traditions and legends.

The original seats from the 1930’s. Still in use today!
This is one happy Husby!
When we left it was drizzling, so there was a special treat over the ballpark
Love these next two photos!
After Fenway, we decided to learn even more facts and trivia so we took a guided tour of The Freedom Trail. This tour was so awesome, and it made me so proud of our Founding Fathers and the Patriots.
“Hannah Adams” guiding us along the Freedom Trail…
The Grainery Cemetery where Paul Revere and Samuel Adams (and others) are buried.
Old City Hall and good old Ben Franklin
George Washington first read the Declaration of Independence from that balcony! Also, where the Boston Massacre occured….
an Old Church where first meetings of Founding Fathers took place…
Fanuel Hall, where we ended our tour…
Park Street Church where they first sang “My Country ‘Tis of Thee”…
After all that learning we were tired and hungry so we headed up to our Bed and Breakfast in Maine…but not without a few food stops along the way!
Kane’s Doughnuts….seriously amazing. They are like Krispy Kreme(real Raleigh KK, not the chain stuff) but I might say better ๐ They have this honey-glaze that is out of this world! I don’t know why I don’t have pictures of the actual doughnuts…I guess because we ate them too fast!
Michael and Selah found Woodman’s in 1000 Places To See Before You Die. It said you absolutely have to come here for the fried clams, so that’s what we did!
later that night we finally made it to York, Maine to our hotel the York Harbor Inn.
This place was a gem! We loved it from the minute we pulled up, but loved it even more once we Husby and I saw our room!
we could not stop laughing at how ironic it was that we got the Hobbit room! (the hotel didn’t call it that, we did, haha!) I could touch the ceiling and since I am only 5′ tall that’s a pretty low ceiling! So funny!
After alot of learning, alot of good food and alot of laughter we all got a good night’s rest for the next day.
