Saturday we toured around York and the neighboring towns, mostly on bike! It was so much fun, and just an abolutely perfect Fall day. Definitely what I pictured when I think of Maine in Autumn.
We stopped for a walk in the beach…
And then rode up to the Nubble Lighthouse which is the most photographed/painted Lighthouse in the US!
while I was busy taking pictures, the boys were taking some silly pictures of their own…
We continued on to the little town at York Beach for some apple cider to warm us up! I was having the best time taking pictures of everything we were passing. I could NOT get over how pretty the trees were!
We stopped in Cape Neddick at the Lobster Pound for a lobster roll lunch.
This place was so cute and cozy with a big fireplace and a great view…
We continued our bike ride through the beautifully colored woods…
We stopped at our second lunch of the day… Flo’s Hot Dogs! Yes, I said second lunch. The boys were adamant about trying these hot dogs, so there you go…two lunches.
we finally finished up our 15 mile(!) bike ride (although I keep saying it was 30 miles because that’s pretty much what it felt like :)) and drove over to the Stonewall Kitchen flagship store to reward ourselves for all our hard work!
the had samples of ALL their yummy goodies and we had a great time trying EVERYTHING 🙂
after our snack we went over to Portland, Maine for dinner. We drove through more gorgeous landscapes and houses, including the Bush Compound in Kennebunkport! Matt and I had driven by there before but it was a super-foggy day so it was cool seeing it in the sunshine…
We ate dinner at the Portland Lobster Co. for more lobster rolls, complete with lobster bibs!! I actually branched out and got lobster bisque and a salad but I tried some of Husby’s sandwich and it was amazing, of course!
when we got back to our hotel we sat by the fire, planned the next days activites and enjoyed some live music. it was the perfect cozy end to our day!
