sunday we checked not one but TWO items off our “master NYC list”. walk across the brooklyn bridge…check. explore coney island…check. so exciting!
we woke up early and headed downtown to city hall to access the manhattan side of the bridge.
youre not going to believe that this was all at the same time because the sky looks like two different days! it was super cloudy over brooklyn but clear over manhattan so as we walked, it completely changed color! everyone was bundled up, but once the sun came out it was perfect weather.

once we reached the brooklyn side the sky was clear and sunny…
in brooklyn, we jumped on another train and by the time we reached coney island it felt like we were in another world. everything was vintage and beachy, which seemed so far from NYC!
the absolute first thing we did was eat at nathans famous hot dogs! i loved all the old signs on the building…
husby was really excited about his hot dog 🙂
after a delicious lunch of hot dogs and clams(? only my husband would order clams at a hot dog shack!) we went to famous boardwalk to explore…
it was so awesome. i felt like i was back in the 50s or something! so different than the NC beaches but so kitschy and cool! i loved it!

we were so excited that the amusement park was open, even though it was supposed to be closed for the season!
we were thrilled to get a chance to ride the famous wonder wheel, which has been running since 1920!

we ended the day with some soft-serve sitting on a bench watching the ocean. it was a great way to end such a perfect weekend!
we got back on the train home…exhausted, but so happy!
