this weekend husbys parents came up to see us in NYC for the first time! we only had two days with them but we packed it full of fun stuff and had a great time!
saturday morning i had a workout with sarah, then met everyone back at our apartment so they could see our house. afterwards matt took them on a quick tour of the nieghborhood so i could get ready for our first adventure…the yankees game!
we headed out to the bronx to see the yankees play the red sox, which apparently is our traditional yearly game π matts parents loved seeing the new stadium….
unfortunately, the yankees lost but it was still a great night for baseball!
after the game we took them to sal and carmines pizza (which by now you know is husby’s most favorite) and then we all hung out on the rooftop deck at their hotel….
we love having people stay at “on the ave”, when they come to see us because its right down the street, and they get to enjoy our fabulous neighborhood π
sunday we woke up early and had brunch at an UWS favorite…sarabeths. it was delicious and filling so afterwards we took them to central park to show them around and walk off breakfast π
our walk included a quick stop by the farmers market to stock up on a few things for the week….including these adorable baby cucumbers!
after a great walk we headed down to see the addams family on broadway! the broadway flea market was happening in shubert alley so sarah met up with us for a few mins before the show and we walked around…it was complete insanity! there were people EVERYWHERE!
after buying a few playbills it was time for the show! the addams family was really cute and VERY funny! nathan lane was hilarious, and the show had some great lines and pop-culture references π
after the show we ate at a new steakhouse near our placed called (aged.) it was one of the best steak dinners i have ever had! everything was delicious π after a completely wonderful dinner we headed back up to the rooftop deck to cap off a great day
on monday after another great breakfast at manhattan diner across the street, we hung out a little at the house before chief and susan had to catch their flight. we were so glad they came to see our little piece of the city and hope they will be back soon!
we grow those cucumbers! They are gherkins! Did you try them? I think they taste kinda salty. We pickled them for the first time this year. Husb says i like them just cause they are little π
leah- yes, we got lots of them and i love them! they told us they were called “mexican sour gherkins” and i love that they taste salty π i love pickles so they are a perfect snack for me π im so jealous you get to grow your own veggies! i can wait for the day i can do that
