i was so excited to be home in NYC for the first weekend in a LONG time! we planned lots of fun activities to celebrate:
saturday morning i went to the afro-jazz class at the gym with sarah….which was a good thing because we ate REALLY good the rest of the day (so im glad i started out with some exercise :))
husby and i headed down to the lower east side to check out the hester street fair for the first time.
another awesome subway mural…
the street fair was adorable and had a great atmosphere! it was small but all the vendors were great!
speaking of great….we had lukes lobster rolls for lunch….yum, yum, yum. ’nuff said.
for dessert we had macarons from “the macaron parlour”…they had fantastic flavors and we will definitely be going back to try more!
after we saw all the vendors and hung out for awhile we went a couple blocks over to chinatown for some bubble tea and other treats. we absolutely love the food in chinatown. so cheap and good!
we took home a vietnamese bbq chicken sandwich for dinner…$3.50 and it’s more than enough food for the both of us….so amazing!
when we got home, we took roxie for a long walk in the park. there werent many people out since it was getting dark which means we got to let her run around like a crazy dog. she had so much fun rolling, as usual.
trying out the little flip-around camera thing in my iphone 🙂
sunday was pretty much perfect! we have been wanting to go rowboating in central park since we moved here but never made it happen. with the summer slipping away we decided sunday was definitely the day! it was so much fun, being on the lake and enjoying the great scenery and even better weather!
husby was such a good rower…he made it look easy(once we figured out how not to smash into other boats :))
i cant even tell you how hard it was to get these next two pictures….we asked someone in another boat and trying to get the camera to them was hilarious…good thing they were nice, patient people!
we brought breakfast to eat on the water, so we parked under willow tree and ate in the shade…husby was excited for food after rowing for so long 🙂
roxie came along for the ride! she wasnt so sure what was going on but eventually she just layed down and enjoyed the sunshine 🙂
it was fun seeing our favorite spots in the park from a different view!
such a fun day with husby!
after all that boating, i met up with my friend gretel and we headed out my front door to the columbus ave street/farmers market/greenflea!
the street was PACKED! there was alot going on. usually sundays in our neighborhood are sleepy and quiet….not so much that day!
honeycrisps!!!! my all-time favorite for the first time this season 🙂 i was so excited!
another thing to get excited about…the naked cowboy!!!! i hadnt seen this new york icon in awhile and certainly never on my street! that was pretty awesome 🙂 theres also now a naked cowgirl! i didnt get her pic because she was in a thong bikini…and i dont promote porn on this blog 🙂 haha
my flea market splurge…ive wanted one of these mirrors for a long time, and since my $5 walmart full length mirror is falling apart i finally got one! so pretty and im so excited to use it in my real house one day! i still have to figure out where to put it now, though!
this is gretel, who was a great partner to explore the market with AND she convinced me to get the turquoise mirror, which i love, as opposed to the white one i was going to get to be “safe”. very good choice gretel!
(excuse the jack-o-lantern lighting…husby took the picture during a football game on tv…’nuff said)
after all that market-ing husby watched more football while i took a delightful sunday nap to finish off a great weekend!
