we took full advantage of this long weekend and decided to mark off one of the places on our list of things to see while we live here in the northeast.
friday morning we packed up early and headed north. i slept 2/3 of the way there(id like to blame it on the cold i had, but i always fall asleep in the car). we stopped to eat a subway lunch in the little town of windsor.
we pulled into the the historic town of lewiston late that afternoon. it was a great little town, lots of character and charm! if you know us at all, you know we love a little kitsch, and our B&B did not disappoint! it was called “sunnys roost” and the entire thing was decorated from top to bottom with chickens. so funny! 🙂
this was our room…the “leghorn” (every room was named after a breed of chicken) i picked the leghorn because my dad always does foghorn leghorn impersonations, so i thought that would be a good choice 🙂
we loved this antique pedestal sink in the room! it was an original found in the house. gorgeous!
the street that we stayed on was so sweet!
even the fire hydrants were cute!
i loved the houses….i wanted to take this one home 🙂
…they had a “dont tread on me” flag which made it even better!
heres a little tour of lewiston…
the chocolate and ice cream store….the sponge candy ice cream was awesome!
the lewiston museum….on the same street we stayed on…
this was the rectory! hello, gorgeous!
there was a great riverwalk at the end of town…i loved this restaurant hanging out of the water…
this is husbys “im tired of taking pictures” face….
saturday we explored a bit of canada, eh.
this is roxies first picture in canada 🙂
first we drove to niagara-on-the-lake. we’d heard it was beautiful and it certainly was!
they did a great job with the landscaping all through the town. the flowers were so happy and bright…
the town was having a cherry festival at an old church…complete with a historic canadian soldier band….or something like that 🙂
after buying some cherries to eat on the road, we headed up to toronto to see some big city action…
we ate dumplings in chinatown…
watched people on the street watch the world cup…
and ate dinner in greektown.
as the sun set over the city, we headed back to the US….
this is the ONLY picture i got of the two of us the entire day. it cracks me up that this was our first time to canada, and we saw so many exciting things, and this is the only shot i got 🙂 haha…
so thats part one of our trip….stay tuned for pics from niagara falls 🙂
You guys have so much fun! I love it! And that B&B cracks me up!
