very early saturday morning, matt and i got up to hop on a plane to n’awlins to go to jazzfest with his family. not being from the gulf i had never head of said music fest but apparently its a huge deal!
there were SO many people there!
we saw lots of characters…
saw lots of parades…
saw some amazing gospel singers…
and at the end of the day, we heard pearl jam. gotta be honest, i only knew like 3 of their songs but hey, it was cool to hear “rock legends”
(…i dont know if you can tell, but there were THOUSANDS of people. it was like 2 football fields worth or something)
we ate dinner in city park that night. its a gorgeous little area of new orleans, and i absolutely loved it.
we drove back to his parents beach house in fairhope to spend the rest of the weekend there. as usual, it was adorable and wonderful. its just like stars hollow!
we took walks along the bay and the pier, went to the farmers market, ate yummy bbq, and just generally enjoyed small town life(including a very unique storybook bed and breakfast :))
i just wanted to show everyone the SO special gift we got from matt’s mom. monday was our anniversary, and his mom painted this for us! isn’t that so sweet? its the altar we got married under, and i love it, and i love that she made it for us! im so proud of her for going to a painting class, after not taking one for 40 years! clearly she has natural talent 🙂
we don’t get to the deep south much, but when we do, we LOVE being there! such a good trip!
