from the desk of tara hope…

last weekend husby and i took a little getaway to maine. neither of us had ever been, so when we saw a special online we jumped at the chance to stay at The Inn By The Sea

this was our adorable room, complete with a fireplace…

and a view of the ocean! i loved that we were at the beach, and there was snow all over the ground 🙂

i also LOVED our welcome snack…s’mores on a stick! 🙂 yum!(ha, that “yum” is for you dad..apparently i need to find some new adjectives)

our package included breakfast and dinner in the Sea Glass Dining Room…which also had a great view

we walked off our breakfast with a little tour of the property. i can only imagine how fabulous it would be in the summer!

after all that eating and walking, we headed into Portland to have a little look-around

we absolutely adored Portland! it reminded me of Wilmington(for all you NC’ers) but in a more Northeastern way 🙂 (makes total sense, right?)

for lunch we ate at gilberts chowder house…

i had the namesake dish, chowdah in a bread bowl, and husby had a crab roll( he was in seafood heaven on this trip :))

we walked around portland just a little bit longer after lunch…loved this girls whole look, her dog, and the way she matched her surroundings!

we stopped in this cool fish market, and i thoroughly expected captain ahab to walk by at any moment!

our last stop of the day was to the shipyard brewing company, where they make their own sodas.

we took a tour of the factory, tasted about 10 types of sodas(2 different types of rootbeer, maine blueberry, ginger, and orange to name a few)

as the sunset, we headed back to the inn for dinner by the sea, then got some rest so we could make of the most of day 2!
